And They're Off - A Canarians view of the PES Championship

BlogAND THEY'RE OFF - A Canarian's view of the PES Championship

The PES Championship is up and running with a number of fixtures already completed.

The woeful Canarians of Tenerife had a bad start, with a limited squad they encountered a tough and resilient Fulham who went away with all 3 points, helped by an early sending off to Ayoze with the tie at 0-0. Fulham have faltered since and have settled mid-table.

Next game saw Tenerife play the equally crap FC Lorient side managed by Mighty-Butler. With a full and able squad now since the rosta update Tenerife were able to put a half decent 11 out and secured a well earned 2-0 win. On this form and with his team Butler is surely a contender for the end of season wooden spoon.

RobbieM's Blackburn were the next visitors to Tenerife. An early goal settled this tie. The visitors were clearly more interested in sunning themselves or enjoying the nightlife of Playa de Las Americas, than to turn up for a 90 minute game of footie!!

The latest game was against the newly appoint AceRulez and his hard line Wigan team. With a 4-5-1 formation, and speed throughout the team they made an easy 3 points against one of the poorest side in the Championship.

Surely one to watch with 6 points out of 2 games, AceRulz will be fighting for top spot come the end of the season. Other notable good starts have been made by Kell, Bavellas and Taylor who are looking strong. Craig started strong with his Crespo led Genoa side, but a recent loss has put a stop to his exceptional start.

Already struggling are manfromtherock and the afore mentioned Mighty-Butler who look like contenders for the wooden spoon with nothing but loss after loss being recorded.

As for Tenerife, I'm pleased to say they have exceeding my expectations with 2 wins out of 4, but with some great opponents yet to come it will no doubt be tough season. Still a good start could mean the heights of a play-off spot are reached for a second season running.

Its been a great start to the Championship and looks like it could be a close run thing for the automatic places.

As for the PEFA cup Tenerife are in the second round draw after a tightly fought win against Wigan following a late late late Extra time goal. Hopefully a cup run will provide some nice distraction from the pressure of the league.

The 2 Slags of Spurs and Villa were matched up for the 1st round, but Deaf's championship side were outdone by one of the Prem's top dogs.

A shocking result for Spurs-craig as his Genoa side fell to a 1-0 loss to the lowly FC Lorient, who surely won't get much further than the second round.

Still early days with many games yet to be played, but I'm sure there'll be more surprising results to come.
